Reviewer walkthrough

CaptainSync review screencast

This walkthrough demonstrates installation, Source and Destination onboarding, secure store connection, read-only Compare, Shopify billing, explicit change approval, Sync, and recorded History.

Current UI update: Destination stores also show their connected Sync Profiles, read-only, with an Open in Source store link. Profile saving is free. Only confirmed Sync writes require active Pro on the exact Destination; existing subscriptions and scheduled plan changes are checked with Shopify before writing.

Why these permissions are needed

CaptainSync V1 compares and synchronizes Metafield Definition schemas, not products, customers, orders or metafield values. Shopify requires permission on the definition's owner type. Each write grant also allows the corresponding read used by Compare. One installation can be either Source or Destination, so both roles request the same scopes.

Shop definitions need no additional owner scope. No read_all_orders, payment, theme, pixel, or customer name, email, phone or address fields are requested. Definitions are read in both paired stores; selected changes are written only to the Destination after explicit confirmation and current Pro verification. Deleting a definition retains its values.
