CaptainSync is intentionally explicit. Here are the answers that matter before your first Compare.
What does CaptainSync sync?
CaptainSync V1 synchronizes Shopify Metafield Definitions, the schema that defines names, namespaces, keys, types and validations. It does not copy Metafield values or merchant records.
Is the sync one-way or two-way?
V1 is intentionally one-way. A Source store provides the desired definitions and a Destination receives only the selected changes. This keeps ownership and billing clear.
Can CaptainSync delete data automatically?
No. Deletes are never preselected and must be chosen and confirmed explicitly. When a definition is deleted, its existing values remain in Shopify as unstructured Metafields.
Which store needs a paid plan?
The Source store is always free. Destinations can Compare and Preview for free; Pro costs $19 USD monthly or $190 USD yearly per Destination and unlocks the actual one-way Sync.
Does a job stop when I close the app?
No. Compare and Sync run as background jobs. You can close the browser and return later to see progress and results in History.
